FAAN and FAI joining forces to become FARE

Posted 1.7.13 | Nutrition Specialist

At Nutricia, we are dedicated to treating and better understanding the food allergies that affect the lives of so many.  That being said, we are excited to hear of the merger between two food allergy organizations – the Food Allergy & Anaphylaxis Network (FAAN) and the Food Allergy Initiative (FAI).

The new organization, known as FARE, is dedicated to increasing awareness and understanding of food allergies.  FARE will fund research to advance treatment, provide education and resources to help others better understand food allergies, advocate on all levels of government, as well as work to increase awareness of food allergies as a serious public health issue.

Food allergies currently affect nearly 15 million people in the United States.  The merger of FAAN and FAI will help raise awareness about the severity of food allergies and help people better understand how to properly manage them.

FARE will be headquartered in the Washington, D.C. area and have five regional offices throughout the Northeast, Midwest, Southeast, Southwest, and West. To learn more about this merger FAI has provided a helpful Q&A Guide.
