Neocate and Milk Allergy Related Diseases

In infants and children, a broad spectrum of conditions can be attributed to milk allergy. Milk allergy conditions can include gastrointestinal issues, such as vomiting and diarrhea, dermatological issues, such as skin rash or eczema, or respiratory issues, such as wheezing.  Milk allergy can also present in association with other conditions such as colic, gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), eosinophilic esophagitis (EE), allergic colitis and/or constipation.

Currently the only treatment for cow/soy milk allergy or multiple food protein intolerance is total avoidance of the allergenic food. Infants and children require a certain amount of protein daily to grow and develop normally; therefore it is not possible to completely remove protein from the diet. Instead, allergic proteins of the diet should be replaced with nutritionally equivalent alternatives.  By offering a hypoallergenic, non-allergenic amino acid-based profile, Neocate has been proven to safely and effectively treat cow/soy milk and multiple food protein intolerances while providing the essential nutrients needed for growth and development.
