Neocate versus Other Formulas

Neocate is not intended to replace breast milk. In the rare cases of an infant displaying allergic symptoms despite exclusive breastfeeding, a maternal exclusion diet is recommended. Such diet should be conducted under the supervision of a dietitian and/or doctor. If a maternal exclusion diet proves ineffective, an elimination diet using Neocate may need to be considered.

Like all infant formulas, Neocate contains the essential nutrients required for normal growth and development of infants and young children when taken in adequate amounts. Neocate nutrients are easier for the body to be adsorbed, processed and digested and, at the same time, are hypoallergenic, that is less likely to cause an allergic response compared to other formulas consisting of more intact proteins.

Other commercially available infant formulas are made of whole proteins or proteins fragments, that can cause allergic reactions in sensitive infants and children.

The following table lists the protein source and type of some infant formulas, relating with their potential possibility to trigger an allergic reaction.

Protein & protein fragments can cause allergic reactions in sensitive infants and children. Neocate is made only by amino acids, the hypoallergenic simplest form of protein that is not associated with allergic reactions.
