Patient History:
At only two weeks old, it was clear that something was wrong with baby Max who would cry inconsolably all day long.
“Max was in such discomfort,” says Amanda, Max’s mother. “He was unable to sleep and was always squirming and grunting. In general, he was just a very unhappy and uncomfortable baby.”
Nutritional Management and Outcome:
For three months, Amanda took Max to his pediatrician for weekly visits in hopes of figuring out what was wrong. The pediatrician prescribed various medications including Zantac, Prevacid, and Mylanta but none of them helped and Amanda was continually told this was something she would just have to wait for Max to outgrow.
