Reminder for Our Neocate One+ Customers

Posted 1.13.11 | Sarah O'Brien

As a reminder for all of our customers who are currently on Neocate One+, we would like to inform you that Nutricia North America has discontinued Neocate One+. Although patients may still find Neocate One+ in circulation, Nutricia’s inventory is being totally depleted.

We encourage our Neocate One+ users to transition to Neocate Junior or Neocate Junior with Prebiotics. Neocate Junior provides the same if not better nutritional support than Neocate One+, including higher vitamins and minerals. Neocate Junior also meets nutrient requirements at a lower volume and is more cost efficient.

As always, be sure to consult with your physician before switching formulas. If you have further questions or need assistance with transitioning, please feel free to contact us at 1-800-365-7354, Mon.-Fri., 8:30 am - 5:00 pm EST and ask to speak with our nutrition specialists.

My daughter has been on Neocate One for many years, she has multiple medical conditions, but has remained stable on this formula. Since going off and trying the junior and even thr infant formula, my daughter is 18, she has been hospitalized 35 days march and April, and is currently in the hospital unable to tolerate her feedings, she has been on TPN for the last 3 weeks. She has D.I. ,high sodium levels, we have been unable to find a formula she can tolerate, tried the Ella Cares, and several others. I feel the companies profits are more important than the children who depended on this formula,my daughter has been through alot the last few months and I don’t see a light at the end of this tunnel. Do you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Please bring back Neocate One Plus. My daughter is six years old, has Down Syndrome, and Food Protein Enterocolitis. Neocate One Plus was our miracle! Our daughter cannot tolerate anything else. I am actually in fear for her life at this point. Please help us!

My son is severly brain damage from birth and has food allergies. He was on neocate plus for years and since he’s been on Neocate Junior he has had a lot of muscus. Have you heard this complaint before? Any recommendations? Should I switch from the Neocate Junior with Prebiotics to just the Neocate Junior?
He is on a feeding tube.
    Thanks, Denise Mealey

    Hi Denise,

Neocate Junior is our upgraded version of Neocate One+. It is made on the same equipment, uses many of the same ingredients, and is intended for the same patients as Neocate One+, so you wouldn’t be likely to see any changes in switching between the two formulas.

It can be very difficult to know what might be causing certain symptoms, such as excess mucus. It would also be highly unlikely for the prebiotic fiber we add to the Prebiotics version of Neocate Junior to have any impact on mucus in the airway. The fiber helps many children to be more regular by benefitting gut health.

We’d suggest you check with your son’s health care team: it could be as simple as adjusting his fluid intake. As always, feel free to contact us through any of the above methods with any additional questions you might have.

The children suffering from mitochondrial disease need Neocate One, which does not contain DHA.  I urge you to consider omitting DHA in your replacement formulas.
Thank you for your time and consideration,

    Hi Carmen,

Thanks for your comments. Neocate Junior, the upgraded version of Neocate One+, does not contain DHA. It does have a balanced blend of fats to allow the body to make DHA, which can be very beneficial.
