I have a 1 year old son that has a milk and peanut allergy. He currently drinks rice and oat milk. He does not seem to be gaining any weight. He has been 25 pounds since January. Is there any kind of pedia sure like drink that he can have that does not have milk or milk protein in it?

  • 2012-04-20 | Christine Graham-Garo

    Hi Leila,
Yes! We have a few products to choose from that are similar to PediaSure AND are 100% dairy/milk free. The one I would point out is our E028 Splash product. We have it in 3 different flavors. Here is a link to view more (https://www.neocate.com/shop/p-24-e028-splash.aspx). We also have a powdered, 100% milk protein free product called Neocate Jr. We have a variety of falvors for the Neocate Jr as well, but I will mention one that is by far my favorate in regards to flavor. This is the Neocate Jr with Prebiotics (fiber), Vanilla. Here is a link: https://www.neocate.com/shop/p-36-neocate-junior-with-prebiotics.aspx  Feel. free to call us or write to us if you would like to trial these for your son. We are always happy to help. smile

Hello, my daughter was diagnosed with FPIES. Since birth she has been on gerber good start gentle and has tolerated that. At 4 months we found out her allergy triggers are rice, oats, peas and carrots. She is now 7 months with a slight food aversion. We are in the process of trailing food to see what she can tolerate. Peaches and blueberries seem to be a pass. Avocado she denied on the 3rd day. Therefore we couldn’t continue to force her to eat it. My question is that I was referred to Neocate Nutra and I wanted to know how this could potentially benefit my daughter and also the foods she can eat. Thank you

Hi Kerri: Great questions! Neocate Nutra is hypoallergenic, and a good source of key vitamins and minerals (such as vitamin D, iron and calcium). For infants with food allergies who tolerate some solids, like your daughter, clinicians might recommended Nutra as a source of additional calories and nutrients. Allergic infants might only have solid foods that are low in calories and/or protein and not a great source of more than a handful of vitamins/minerals, so Nutra can help them meet nutrient needs. If you still have more questions, you should check with the healthcare provider who recommended Nutra to get her/his perspective.

My daughter 3 years old with rice wheat grain milk allergies her GI gave her sanple of Nutricia Neocate Nutra to feed I was almost to try on her but read it contains Rice Starch 19%
So am very scared they are closed now cant talk to them so writting you that if it still good idea to feed her with Rice Allergy.

    Hi Pari,
Thanks for your question. The best thing to do would be to talk to your daughter’s healthcare team. The rice starch used in Neocate Nutra - like the corn syrup solids in Neocate products - is highly refined with a high degree of processing and rice protein extraction to minimize the likelihood of an allergic reaction. We can’t give medical advice, though, so definitely ask her GI team for their guidance.
      Best,
    Rob
