Help for Kyle

Patient History

At three weeks old, Kyle was admitted to Children’s Hospital with bloody diarrhea and reflux. His doctor recommended Nutramigen but a week later Kyle was readmitted to the pediatric hospital again with bloody diarrhea and increased reflux. He was diagnosed with failure to thrive.

Nutritional Management and Outcome

After trying Nutramigen with no success the dietitian at Children’s Hospital recommended Kyle begin taking Neocate Infant. Neocate Infant is a hypoallergenic formula made of individual amino acids (the building blocks of protein) that Kyle could digest instead of the full or partial protein chains found in other formulas that he could not tolerate. Neocate worked immediately for Kyle. When Kyle turned one, he switched over to Neocate Junior, which provides the same features and benefits as Neocate Infant but formulated for children over the age of one. “Neocate is a wonderful product that is worth its weight in gold,” said Kyle’s mother Kathrine. “I’m so thankful that Neocate is available for my son.”

Summary

After two hospital visits in his first month of life, Neocate helped Kyle thrive and has ensured that his diet is nutritionally complete. “I am not sure what would have happened if the dietitian would not have introduced the idea of Neocate to our gastroenterologist,” said Kathrine. “Kyle loves his ‘Kyle Milk’!”
