Neocate brings a smile to Olivia’s face

Patient History

At five months old, Olivia developed a severe eczema-like rash on her body, which caused her to be extremely irritable. “Every day was a little different,” said Trisha, Olivia’s mom. “But she was always extremely fussy; we were always trying to make her comfortable.”

Nutritional Management and Outcome

When Trisha took Olivia to the pediatrician because of the rash, she was referred to a dermatologist who diagnosed Olivia with eczema. Olivia was put on Nutramigen and then Alimentum formulas. Still, for two months, Olivia’s discomfort persisted. At seven months, Trisha took Olivia back to the pediatrician, who referred her to an allergist. Olivia tested positive for allergies to milk, soy, wheat, eggs, peanuts, dogs and cats. The allergist then took Olivia off of her current formula and switched her to Neocate Infant, a hypoallergenic formula used to manage multiple food allergies. Since then, Olivia has been rash-free. And since she’s no longer uncomfortable, she’s no longer crying all the time.

Summary

When other formulas failed, dietary management with Neocate helped to clear Olivia’s painful rash.
“Thanks to Neocate, Olivia is more bubbly than ever,” said Trisha. “I can tell that she feels better by the sweet smile on her face.”
